Now, it feels slightly icky to be blowing my own trumpet about these wins, but if I’m not going to do it, then who is?
Hi, I’m Kate.
I was once an eager copywriter, thrown into the self-employment deep-end with a five-month-old baby and a mortgage to pay.
I left my high-paying (and HUGELY stressful) fancy agency job to go it alone, armed with enthusiasm and a pressing need to pay my bills.
I went from running a huge team on big brands like American Express, Qantas and Marks and Spencer to working all on my lonesome.
Just me, myself and I.
And honestly starting your own business back in 2009 was a lonely experience.
There were no supportive communities.
No easy-to-access resources.
No step-by-step courses by uber gurus.
So instead I slowly chipped away and built a raft of loyal clients and a high-ranking website to keep my pipeline well-greased.
After a few years, I had it all figured out.
A six-figure business and an excellent reputation.
But then I realised my one-to-one business model could only take me so far.
If I wanted to really grow, a one-to-many set-up was my future.
I wanted to make money while I snoozed and to create the holy business grail: passive income.
So I did.
Then as word got out about the resources I was creating and the community I was connecting, my business grew.
I saw a need – to create the resources I would have died for when I was starting out in business.
So from there, I’ve diversified and built Australia’s first DIY SEO course, and more recently, my membership, which is packed full of all the warm and juicy digital marketing training and expertise you’ll ever need.
My philosophy is simple:
I don’t promise overnight success or seven-figure business secrets. Instead I give practical, doable advice that even the smallest of businesses can implement.
And I encourage business owners to be brave – to be more shark.
The Kate Toon you see today might be the Queen of a business empire (cul de sac), but it’s taken plenty of steps, missteps and leaps of faith for me to get here.
