Where was this book fifteen years ago? I sure could have used Kate’s pragmatic perspectives, coupled with the tough love that is needed to survive the parental juggle. The guidance given is as relevant to wage earners as it is for business owners!
Kat Copy Paste –
This was such an inspiring read. Kate really lets you see what her process has been like, giving such great insight into a real human experience of taking care of yourself, a small human, and a new business. Definitely recommend!

Kate is such an inspiration, she sure has a way with words! Highly recommend this book for parents with small businesses or plans to delve into business or parenthood.

Love, Love Love. This book had me at page one when Kate referenced the Mum guilt she felt when her son was watching In The Night Garden whilst she, instead, replied to Barry’s relentless pings. I’ve never related so much to anything anyone has ever said before. One of my regrets as a Mum trying to navigate building a business, raising a small human and PND is the amount of ABC For Kids my son watched. Like Kate, I spent way too much time with people who, as it turns out, didn’t have an off switch. The number of times I wish I could have a do-over is countless. But we can’t and it’s ok. We have the now though. My son, like Kate’s, is doing ok and he looks back at In The Night Garden and laughs at how ridiculous it was. (Honestly, it’s got to have been written by stoners doesn’t it??). Yet, the Mum guilt remains.
I love how Kate has been so honest in her own story, yet so insightful. The lessons you can learn from Kate if you are starting out in business – or even in business for a while – are priceless.
As a self confessed non reader (I was the one who struggled to even read the study guides in English class and passed my whole VCE reading one book!), I am hooked on this book and how much information has been shared.
I highly recommend this book for any parent who is running a business and struggling with the parent guilt, or just looking for tips on how to improve your business. It covers both and you won’t be disappointed. TIP: Before reading the book, listen to a Kate Podcast first to enjoy the full experience of Kate’s wit and humour and words such as “procrastifaffers” will make complete sense – you’ll even hear the book in her tone and accent.

This book had all the trademark elements that make Kate an outstanding and relatable mentor. It was wonderfully humorous, realistic, generous in its advice and so relatable. I wish this book had been around when I first started my business, I may have been kinder to myself along the way and much more realistic about how much I can achieve in a day. Loved the book and would highly recommend it to all business owners with or without small humans! Kate has blazed her own trail yet again.

6 Figures in School Hours is the practical, no-nonsense guide to building a successful business while raising your family. It’s filled with advice from someone who has done it themselves and tips you can easily integrate into your business and parenting model, all delivered with Kate Toon’s unique sense of humour.
This is the book I wish I had 10 years ago when I embarked on my own business journey. However, her advice is relevant and helpful whether you’ve been in business for 10 years or 10 minutes. My tip is to buy the audiobook and the physical book. That way you can listen to Kate’s helpful advice while driving the kids or walking the dog (because we’re all still juggling things, right?), and then go to the physical book to revisit the things that resonated with you.
5 shiny gold stars and a million thankyous Kate, for writing such a realistic, practical and down-to-earth book that everyone can relate to.

Such an amazing read! It’s not like the “business bros” books you read where they talk about getting up at 4:00 am, sweating it out at the gym, and smashing out a day’s worth of work all before 9:00 am. This is focused on real actions you can take right now if you’re a busy parent with a small business.

Love love Kate’s delivery and how she humanises and normalises the struggles of trying to win at life, parenting and business. So much practical advice. I feel sooooo seen!! Thanks Kate!
