Meet ups suck, right? I hate them so much I wrote a post about it.

I’ve been to so many that have bored the pants offa me, that I gave up on them. And then I had an epiphany. Why not start one of my own?

And so the Misfit Meet up was born!

My mission

I wanted to create networking and education events for local businesses

  • Zero fluff, zero pitch.
  • No death by PowerPoint.
  • No soggy sausage rolls.

Just good chats and solid learnings on how to make your business better!
There won’t be a bowl to put your business cards in or gift bags with pink tissue paper.
There will be some awesome unpretentious humans just chatting about the challenges of running a business and providing useful practical advice.

Venue: Runway Geelong

Runway Geelong is located in the heart of thriving business park precinct Federal Mills.

With cafes, gyms, a train station and free parking all only a few steps away, this is the best co-working space in town.

The people

I’ve asked two of my fave Digital Humans to come along to the event for our panel discussion.

Me! Kate Toon

Kate Toon is an award-winning misfit entrepreneur, who works with small businesses and big brands to transform their online presence: through powerful SEO, captivating content and all the right digital marketing moves.

As a digital marketing and SEO educator, straight-talking copywriting coach, author, educator, speaker and podcaster, Kate has helped more than 10,000 other businesses demystify digital marketing, grapple the Google Beast, and grow their success.

Kate was named Businesswoman of the Year at the national My Business Awards and has spoken at events around the world, as well as running Australia’s only dedicated copywriting conference, CopyCon.

Kerri Bennett

Kerri Bennett is the friendly face behind Geelong based digital marketing agency, Yellow Door Digital. After spending ten years as the lead digital producer for a major publishing & communications firm in Melbourne, Kerri ditched the commute to open the (yellow) doors to her own digital marketing agency.

With her straight-talking, no-nonsense approach, Kerri cuts through the geek-speak to help her clients get clear on what they need to do to succeed online.

With a focus on eCommerce websites – particularly those on the Shopify platform – she can help you develop and execute a solid eCommerce and SEO strategy that will take your visitors from mindless website wandering to clicking the important Add to Cart button.
