Why I don’t like hair
As featured on Sparkapolooza
In a ‘jazz rhyming’ stylee
Hair gets people down.
Makes them frown.
Dan had no hair up there,
not since he was twenty two.
He said he didn’t care but felt it wasn’t fair.
Some people seemed to stare,
so he retreated to his lair and didn’t share
his emotions with [...]
I’ve just spent a great couple of nights at Short and Sweet Week 6 in Newtown. Eleven plays were up with mine in the eleventh spot.
The night was a real mixed bag as always but I reckon that, generally, there was higher standard this year than any I’ve previously attended.
Personal favourites included: Diagnosis by B.C. [...]
(Best read fast, with a slight Cockney accent)
There’s a man called Andy Warhole and he lives just down my street.
I think he’s a podiatrist or something to do with feet.
He used work in factories, drove a Forklift that was blue.
Now he’ll sort you feet out lovely and cut your corns off too.
He’s nothing like that [...]
Occasionally when I’m not checking SERP rankings or writing SEO copy about mobile phones I do something mildly creative. Here is one of my latest efforts:
Black and white
Phillip was a black kid, Johnny he was white.
One was pale as snow the other dark as night.
As little’uns they played outside and didn’t care at all
that they [...]
My latest play Crush is soon to be performed at Newtown Theatre as part of Short and Sweet Sydney 2010.
This ten minute black comedy about obsessional work place relationships focuses on Alex, the perfect PA. She loves working for her boss Dan, perhaps just a tad too much. On her last day in the office, [...]
I recently discovered a great little site Sparkapolooza. Each month they post a simple brief and give fans two weeks to submit something ‘creative’.
Or in their words:
“Sparkapolooza is a project about forcing those creative juices out. They’re there- they just get buried under day to day life. Now there’s two things to get them flowing [...]
I’m very happy to announce that ‘Crush‘ won Best Play at Stage Rage on Tuesday 25th November.
Directed by Liane Norman and staring Don Christopher and Sona Shinghal (who also scooped the Best Actress award), this ten minute comedy is the most recent play I have written.
The play has also been shortlisted for Short and Sweet [...]

Pleased to see that my ten minute plays ‘Crush’ and ‘Play (with) misty for me’ have made the ‘Sydney Short and Sweet Shortlist’ (try saying that really fast, a true tongue twister).
It’s a fairly long shortlist, so absolutely no guarantees I’ll make it to the final 100, but still it’s encouraging to see your plays [...]

Free!
