Very excited and chuffed that my play ‘Mates’ is being performed in Wagga Wagga in May. The play is an outsider’s view (me being a Pom and all) of relationships between Australian males.
Having read a LOT of Australian history I find it interesting that ‘mateship’, which was once a euphemism for the love that dare not speak its name, has now been embraced as the very essence of Australian-ness.
Also I do find the rougher Aussie types strangely alluring, a common theme in my writing.
